The Quest to Understand Logos

The quest to understand Logos, the Tao or Dharma has been one of the foremost tasks of the human mind. Knowledge of this Divine principle was considered the substance of knowledge itself. The foundation of science is based on the notion that the laws which govern our world are fundamentally understandable. The goal of religion was the realization of logos or the unification with the mind of God. Like science and religion; math, philosophy and art were all means of articulating the different aspects of Logos.

Laws are inherent in nature, though we did not create them, we could uncover them. Logos forms the root of all of the ology words which means “study of”. It was understood that logos could be known and principles could d be uncovered because all of creation shared a common origin.

The universe was unified. Behind all of the scintillating variety there existed a unifying truth. This truth or Logos is the core of the Universe and simultaneously the core of our being. Therefore the natural world could teach us about the structure our psyche and our inner self could teach us about the universe. Our freedom lies within the constraints of Logos.

When we reject Logos we run towards our captivity, making less of ourselves in the process. By embracing the constraints of the Tao or Logos or Dharma, we can make the world and ourselves more Noble.

Archetype of Wholeness: Male & Female, Mars & Venus, Isis & Osiris

The Ankh is a cross with a circle or loop on top. It is formed from a combination of Male & Female symbols. The loop is a symbol of the Eternal Soul. The Cross is a symbol of mortal life, together they represent the union of Isis & Osiris, Heaven & Earth, Life & Death.
.
The cross & loop were understood as a Key to higher states of consciousness and to the afterlife. The Ankh symbol represented the words eternity, life, resurrection and also mirror.
.
The Ankh was associated with the mirror because of its magical properties as a portal and the Egyptian belief that this life is a reflection of the afterlife.

Logos vs. Ideology

Like Dharma and the Tao, Logos is the cosmic principle of Truth, Justice and Order. It is both the Universal Law of Nature, and a Code of Personal Conduct. Although Logos pervades our reality, we can lose sight of it – and when we do, chaos / Ideology inevitably takes its place.
